James Brauer is a virtual school Principal at Iowa Connections Academy, Iowa’s first statewide K-12 virtual school. Other administrative experience includes serving as an assistant principal in the North Kansas City School District. Assignments included Golden Oaks Education Center, the district’s K-12 alternative school for students with special needs, and Maple Park Middle School. Prior to school administration, Brauer was a special education teacher in the Kansas City, KS School District.
Academically, Brauer is completing a doctorate in Education Administration from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Other earned degrees, include: Ed.S. Education Administration (University of Missouri-Kansas City); M.S.Ed. Adaptive Special Education (University of Kansas); M.S.Ed. Curriculum & Instruction (University of Kansas); and B.Ed. Comprehensive Social Studies (University of Kansas).
Brauer is married to Mandi, a family and consumer sciences teacher. They are the proud parents of one child.
