I came across the following poem from psychiatrist R.D. Laing…and, well, it made stop and think…?
The range of what we think and do
Is limited by what we fail to notice
And because we fail to notice
That we fail to notice
There is little we can do
To change
Until we notice
How failing to notice
Shapes our thoughts and deeds
How open am I to truths about myself … myself as a leader? What am I failing to notice? I think that it is vital to ensure we take the time to actively put the ego aside, let the defences down, and do some self-reflection. Maybe time for my own reflective “inquiry?” To start, I am going to choose 6 people within the school district to provide me with one or two words that describe me best…here goes…
