Comment on 3 Reminders For the End of the School Year by Marrieta Appling

One of the things that I do at the end of the year to try to connect with the students centers around the yearbook. They receive their yearbook a couple weeks before school it out. I give 5 minutes every class period for the remainder of the year allowing them to write in each others’ book as well as mine. They love it and feel they take a piece of me with them and likewise. As for number 3 I agree. Even my own father tried guilting me into being off all summer. I politely explained that I spend June doing PD and test writing and then July is all for family with August spent getting my room ready. I may be off but I am still working. (I teach 8th grade)
