Comment on 3 Reminders For the End of the School Year by Joey

Greetings, I enjoyed reading your article and how you took the simple fact of a countdown and turned it into a positive. Teachers are sometimes frowned upon for sharing a countdown but what I think is worse is the teachers that have stopped teaching in the middle of May. I like to end the year with awards, certificates, celebrations, etc. because it helps the students realize their growth. I also allow students to reflect and have celebrations throughout the year for reaching their fitness goals or making progress towards their goal. Students love when you step out of “teacher mode” and just ask how their other classes are going or what they plan to do for the summer. As you mentioned in the blog, not all students look forward to this because they won’t be able to have the same time to build relationships with their peers during the summer.
