Connected Principals Have A Twitter Hashtag!

It is amazing to see how quickly Principals from all over have jumped on board with this blog to help us all stay connected and learn more about what is happening at our schools.  This great forum also helps us gain a better insight into innovations, initiatives, leadership styles, etc. that can help us as we strive for school improvement in our own buildings.

In talking with this blog’s creator George Couros this morning, the ideas were flowing as to where we can go with this idea of Connected Principals. One of the first thoughts is to create a Twitter hashtag where Principals can go to connect on Twitter and have an ongoing conversation with other Principals.

We have settled on #cpchat for our hashtag. When new Principals get on Twitter, we now have a place for them to go to connect instantly with other Principals as they start to build a PLN.

While I used to be saddened by the low number of Principals connecting through web 2.0 tools, I have become excited in the last couple of months by the growing number of administrators taking the plunge.  We now have our own hashtag and we are working on a few other things that will help us connect with one another and share our experiences in a meaningful way.

Stay tuned!

  1. Great job, my friends!

What I would have given to have been able to connect with a group like this, when I was a principal…especially a NEW principal.

As a former principal with 14 yrs in that work, I must say…I’m so proud of you both for your caring commitment to support one another as principal colleagues, To share both challenges and triumphs, defeat and success!

    Bravo!

    • Thanks Lisa – I have really learned a lot about sharing from my PLN! I cannot believe how easy it is to connect to great educators. I am hoping that more administrators will choose to connect themselves. It does not matter where Principals work in this day and age, they can make a choice to be connected to people that can support them.

  2. Like you I also worried about the small number of principals (headteachers in UK) using twitter. It’s a great idea having a hashtag for us to share thoughts, ideas, concerns and innovations. Looking forward to connecting!

I currently am an instructional coach and school improvement consultant, but hold a PK-12 Administrative License in Iowa. I look forward to following this blog and the #cpchat hashtag. I know the learning I gain from all of you will be helpful in fulfilling my dreams of becoming a principal. As I read your blogs and Twitters, I feel your passions for your jobs. I admire the fact that you are leading your schools into the 21st Century by EXAMPLE! It is clear you all are walking the talk. It is especially evident that your work is built on a foundation of wanting all students succeed. Thank you for the vision to connect administrators from all around the world.
